FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Q:  How does the forfeit bond work?

A:  The forfeit bond ($64) is a security deposit separate from the league fee ($400).  The main purpose of the forfeit bond is to discourage teams from forfeiting games and to also pay for staffing in case there is a forfeit.  The posting of the forfeit bond is a requirement PRIOR to scheduling of the first league game.  As long as the team does not forfeit any games, the team captain may have the forfeit bond carried over to the next season or have the forfeit bond returned to him after the team's final game.

Q:  How does "carrying over" the forfeit bond work?

A:  Current teams wishing to secure a spot for the upcoming season may opt to have the forfeit bond apply toward upcoming season instead of having it returned to them.  This eliminated the need to re-post the forfeit bond.  If teams give adequate notice (3 days prior to start) that they are not playing the upcoming season, the forfeit bond can be mailed (check), PayPal'ed, or Venmo'ed back to the captain or even held for the following season.  There is absolutely no risk of carrying over the forfeit bond.

Q:  When do rosters need to be finalized?

A:  All roster updates are allowed up until the start of the team's 3rd regular season game.  Any roster changes after that will require Commissioner's approval.

Q:  What is the total cost for the season?

A:  $720.  League fee $400, forfeit bond $64, game/ref fees $256 ($32/game x 8 games).  Please note that forfeit bond of $64 will be returned to team captain if no forfeit occurred.

Q:  How does PREPAYING game fees work?

A:  Team have the option to prepay all their game fees ($256) at the beginning of the season.  So all the team needs to do is show up, sign in, and play each week.  Prepaying eliminates the need to come up with game fees ($32) prior to the start of the game.

Q:  Can my team get all early or late games?

A:  The ABN have been relatively accommodating in providing convenient scheduling for teams needing primarily early or late games.  However, there is no guarantees that your team will get all early or all late games.  All that we can guarantee is that we will do our best in providing the most accommodating schedule.

Q:  What if my team needs a bye on certain week?

A:  As long as there is adequate notice (at least 1 week in advance), it should not be a problem.  Your team can make up the missed week with a double header later in the season.

Q:  Can I play on more than one team?

A:  Yes, players may play on more than one roster on the same or different night and in the same or different division.  However, if a player is on the roster of two teams playing each other, he must decide which team he is playing for and can not switch once the game starts.

Q:  What is considered Asian?

A:  Asian is any ethnicity from the Continent of Asia and Pacific Islanders.  Players need to be at least 1/2 Asian to be considered Asian status in the ABN.  Asian status players has no height restrictions.  Otherwise teams are allowed up to 2 non-Asian (max height 6-1).
